About downtown west orange alliance

The Downtown West Orange Alliance (DWOA) is a New Jersey nonprofit 501(c)3 organization formed in August 1998.
The Alliance manages the Township’s Special Improvement District (SID) which represents 182 property owners and
over 300 businesses along the downtown corridor. The organization is led by an Executive Director and governed by
a Board of Trustees. The DWOA is a Nationally-accredited Main Street Community that partners with businesses,
non-profits, landlords, and government to make Downtown West Orange a destination where people want to live,
work, visit, and enjoy.

Get to Know the Downtown

The DWOA follows the Four Point Approach to Downtown Management using Organization, Promotion, Design, and
Economic Vitality teams as defined by the National Main Street Center and the Main Street New Jersey
Organizations. The Alliance’s primary goal is to assist in improving the economic vitality of the neighborhoods
known as The Valley, St. Mark’s, Tory Corner, and Eagle Rock. The Alliance is committed to strengthening these
districts by providing business support, neighborhood preservation, and visual beautification. Consistent outreach
and hosting multiple events engage the community to “Catch the Energy” in the downtown corridor.
