Kick Off the Holiday Season in Downtown West Orange
With the holiday season around the corner, there’s no better time to shop, dine, and visit Downtown West Orange. Enjoy holiday activities that are fun for the whole family while experiencing the spirit of the holiday season.
“Downtown West Orange businesses are gearing up for another great holiday shopping season,” said Downtown West Orange Alliance Executive Director Megan Brill. “Our downtown shops, restaurants and businesses are excited to see everyone in person as we launch the shopping season with Black Friday on November 25, followed by Small Business Saturday on November 26.”

Shop Small on Saturday, November 26 at local Downtown businesses during Small Business Saturday. Downtown West Orange’s Main Street Corridor features four vibrant commercial districts within the neighborhoods: Eagle Rock, Tory Corner, St. Mark’s, and the Valley. While strolling the districts, receive a warm welcome from the independently-owned businesses here: bakeries, salons, and professional services.
Holiday Open House, Old-Fashioned Tree Lighting, Santa & Trolley Tours
Saturday, December 3
The Downtown’s annual Holiday Open House takes place on Saturday, December 3 at the Washington Elementary School, 289 Main Street. Festivities begin with Breakfast with Christmas Characters from 9 a.m. – noon in the cafeteria, with the last breakfast seating at 11:45 a.m. Photo opportunities with Santa will be available from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Washington School Gym.
Guests can also enjoy a guided trolley tour with Mayor Parisi and Township Officials through the Historic Downtown from 10 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. Trolleys will depart every hour from the Washington Elementary School parking lot. The last tour will depart at 3:15 p.m.
A Stuffed Animal Workshop takes place at the West Orange Public Library from 2-3 p.m. Reservations for this event are suggested; email email@example.com or call (973)736-0198 ext. 6.
The West Orange Christmas Tree Lighting will take place at Townhall located at 66 Main Street.
