Downtown West Orange Alliance Earns National Main Street America Accreditation

The Downtown West Orange Alliance (DWOA) has once again been officially accredited by Main Street America, the highest level of recognition offered by the national program. Accreditation is reserved for local Main Street programs that consistently plan, implement, and measure their work using the proven Main Street Approach—and that meet all six national Accreditation Standards.

For Downtown West Orange, this recognition reflects years of steady work. Since its founding in 1998, the DWOA has led the effort to revitalize the downtown district, support small businesses, and create public spaces and events that strengthen community life. Over the years, the Alliance has brought forward everything from signage and streetscape improvements to public art, business support, and signature events—slowly building a more connected and vibrant town center.

As part of this year’s accreditation review, staff from Main Street America and Main Street New Jersey met with members of the DWOA Board. Their team will continue working with us through the summer and fall to develop a long-term transformation strategy that sharpens our priorities and guides the next phase of Downtown West Orange’s growth.

This renewed accreditation signals that Downtown West Orange is on the right path—and that the work happening here is recognized at the highest level nationally.
